Providing Professional Accounting Solutions for NDIS Providers

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has reached a significant milestone, with the latest data in the NDIS Quarterly Report showing over 530,000 participants are now receiving individualised funding packages for disability-related support. The increase in participants has created many opportunities for new and existing businesses to expand into the disability industry.

Find out more about the NDIS and if it’s the right fit for your business.

What is NDIS?

NDIS stands for the National Disability Insurance Scheme and is run by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). The NDIS was created for eligible Australians that were either born with or have developed a permanent and significant disability.

The NDIS funds reasonable and necessary support and services to people whose disability is likely to be lifelong and impacts their ability to complete day-to-day tasks.

About NDIS providers

NDIS providers are one of the main contact points for NDIS members. Their purpose is to deliver support and services to the NDIS participant. Being an NDIS provider is a very rewarding career as you can use your business services to support people in need and by working with your accountant, you can minimise tax.

Suppliers can be either registered with the NDIS commission or unregistered. Find out more about the difference between registered and unregistered providers here.

NDIS compliance requirements with PNRC

If you want to be in a position of growth and to stay on top of all your ATO obligations, it is important that you speak with a financial advisor. At PNRC, we look at your business model and restructure your company in a way that aligns with your financial goals.

With more than 8 years of experience in the disability industry, we concluded that the major problems faced by NDIS providers are: Payroll and the NDIS claim calculations.

1. Payroll

Our team is highly experienced in processing the payroll on time of our clients with up to 250 employees. The PNRC team is also well versed with the SCHADS (Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry) Award and always stays up to date with recent news.

Whom the Social and Community Services Award covers

The Social and Community Services Award covers employers and their employees who fit within the classifications of the award and are in the following sectors:

2. NDIS claim calculation

Most of the time, NDIS suppliers get into business with the goal to help the community but they miss to consider things from a financial perspective. It is easy to become overwhelmed with all the reporting and compliance requirements, and you’ll find that as an NDIS provider, you’re spending hours and hours completing basic tasks.

We help with NDIS claim calculation in the following ways:

  1. We check whether the Approved plan, Roster of care and Service agreement are all in the same line or not. If they are not in synchronization, the organisation tends to lose money.
  2. We prepare the SIL Claim calculation file and record invoices in accounting software.
  3. We lodge a Claim on NDIS Portal through Bulk file or Manually.
  4. We check the reason behind the error in the claim and solve that.
  5. We assess the amount received as per the claim and if the amount received is less, we record the credit note in the books of account and lodge the revised claim after solving the error.
